Award Winning Schools
Clovis Unified schools have been named 29 times to the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program and honored 80 times as California Distinguished Schools. It is the only school district in the nation to have three of its intermediate schools selected as "Schools to Watch." Kastner and Alta Sierra intermediate schools were awarded the distinction in 2007 and Clark Intermediate was recognized in 2008 with the award.
Elementary schools (grades K-6) in CUSD provide self-contained classrooms with a student to teacher ratio of 20 to 1 for grades 1 through 3, and approximately 32 to 1 for grades 4 through 6.
High School students are required to meet course and unit requirements throughout grades 9-12. Even thought high schools offer instruction in single-subject classes, they also offer some form of block period scheduling to provide students with longer periods of time each day to delve into subjects at greater depth.
